In addition to beautiful nature and refreshing waters, this high-contrast tour takes you to nine places of German contemporary history in the former eastern part of Berlin. From the banks of the Spree you cycle to memorials of the inner German division and impressive churches, which were meeting points of opposition actors. The starting point is the Rummelsburg S-Bahn station. Just a few steps and the glittering Spree spreads out in front of you. On the Zillerpromenade and the Bolleufer you follow the silhouette of the Rummelsburger Bucht. Enjoy the view again, because then it will be urban. The path leads you over some railway lines, then a longer stay at the former Stasi headquarters, which is now a place of reconnaissance, is worthwhile.Further north you cross the lively Landsberger Allee and can look forward to the next piece of green. How about a break in Ernst-Thälmann-Park with its pretty Kiezteich? From there it goes on to the impressive Zionskirche and the Hirschhof. The beautiful green area is still relatively new and was a popular meeting place for artists and intellectuals during the GDR. Your journey ends just a few kilometers further at the Nordhof S-Bahn station.
