Next time you have to hike in the direction of Meyer zu Jerrendorf, which is a nature reserve. <iframe src = "komoot.de/highlight/1171638/embed" width = "100%" height = "580" frameborder = "0" scrolling = "no"> </iframe>
The oldest settlement in Brake, Hof Meier zu Jerrendorf, was built around 600 AD in the Johannisbach valley. A clan of the Saxons invading from the north settled there. In a document dated May 13, 974, the farm is called "Gerinctorp". Some time later the name "Gerewardingdorp" appears. The court name is derived from the Saxon noble "Gero". The ending "ing" indicates a clan. It was the main courtyard of a village settlement that today houses the Brake Riding and Driving Club. By the middle of the 19th century, Brake had grown into a sizable peasantry. Around 1825 51 farms are registered, the larger ones are called Pahmeyer, Wefel, Meyer zu Jerrendorf, Brakmeyer, Guntmeyer, Brinkmann, Höner zu Jerrendorf and Höner zu Guntenhausen. Further courtyards in Brake were built later.
