Today the Hochrhöner takes you over a length of almost 18 kilometers not only through beautiful nature, but also over the former border between Hesse and Thuringia and last but not least to the historic town of Tann.It starts relatively leisurely from your night quarters. You will soon be heading for your first ascent over meadows and fields as well as through orchards and beech forest. From the "Hessian Balcony" near the border that you will cross shortly afterwards, you can enjoy a great view of the green expanses of the Rhön.You pass the dreamy village of Habel and shortly afterwards you find yourself at the foot of the Habelberg. Don't worry: you don't have to climb it. Instead, you basically walk around it and you can always glimpse the beautiful mountain with its remains of a Celtic rampart.A little later you have already reached Tann. And there is a lot to see in this charming town in the Ulstertal: Not only does it have a proud Renaissance city gate, but also beautiful, old half-timbered art, a historic fountain and the castle of the noble family "Von der Tann" from the 16th century There are also several nice accommodations here, so it's the perfect place to rest for your next stage.
