Wild, turquoise to baby blue water, spectacular views of the gorge up to 75 meters deep and the work of goblins (!): You can experience this exciting mixture in the Leutasch gorge between Mittenwald and Leutasch. The Leutascher Ache has made its way from the Mieminger Mountains in Tyrol to Bavaria and has dug a deep furrow in the rock. On your way through the gorge you cross - just like the Ache - also a state border.Especially on summer days, the gorge offers you a pleasantly cool refuge from the hot weather. A jacket still belongs in your luggage because the temperature difference compared to "outside" can be very large. The Leutasch Gorge is also called the Ghost Gorge, because according to a legend, goblins are said to live hidden here. On the three themed trails through the Geisterklamm, the Klammsteig, the Koboldpfad and the Wasserfallsteig, you will discover the natural spectacle up close and learn all kinds of interesting facts about the formation of the gorge at the adventure and information points. From the outskirts of Mittenwald it goes on a pretty forest path to the gorge. At the entrance of the gorge you can buy souvenirs and a small snack for the way in a kiosk. There is also a small entry fee for the Wasserfallsteig. Incidentally, depending on the weather, the gorge is closed from November. Otherwise, the gorge can be visited daily between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Unfortunately, dogs and strollers are prohibited.During the first hour of your hike, you will climb about 200 meters. After just two kilometers you are right in the middle of the roaring tide - of course on a footbridge secured with a railing. Again and again you will experience breathtaking views from bridges and footbridges, sometimes at lofty heights. If you would like to stop at the apex of the tour, you can simply hike a few meters further to the Gasthof Brücke. Then it's back on the other side of the gorge towards Mittenwald.
