The Schwarzatal is one of the many hidden gems in Thuringia and is definitely worth an extended bike tour. On mainly well-paved paths you follow the course of the river up to the Lichtetalsperre, where you can let your gaze wander over the beautiful landscape and imagine that there is an entire village at the bottom of the artificial lake. You start at our GIANT store in Rudolstadt and follow the roads to Bad Blankenburg. Then you turn into the winding, narrow Schwarzatal, in which the light forests and the gurgling water of the Schwarza quickly bring you into the outdoor flow. After various interesting weirs and, thanks to the electric drive, only moderately sweaty 980 meters of altitude, you reach the Lichtetalsperre. The crystal clear water invites you to jump in, but unfortunately this is prohibited: the reservoir is a drinking water reservoir. The way back to Rudolstadt is the same as the way there, only this time downhill and with the wind in your face. We therefore recommend that you use the tour highlights such as Schwarzburg as small breaks on the way there, as you will probably not feel like stopping on the way back because of the sheer driving pleasure. The perfect bike for this tour: Giant Explore E +
