This stage follows the last few miles of the Lancashire Coastal Path on its journey from Silverdale station to Arnside. This is just a part of the wider Arnside and Silverdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and boasts glorious views across Morecambe Bay.
From the station, you make for the shore and enjoy a fine vista from the small headland of Jenny Brown’s Point. At the Silverdale Hotel you can either take a low path or a higher path depending on the state of the tide. In the warmer months, wildflowers are abundant along this stretch of coastline.
Cross into Cumbria and look out for signs to Arnside Point. The views across the Kent Estuary are splendid as you follow the path towards Arnside. Keep your eyes peeled for lizards sunning themselves on the rocks and enjoy the sounds of the ebbing tide and the calls of seabirds.
The former fishing port of Arnside makes for a lovely stop-off. There are a number of guest houses and an inn for lodgings. The train station is on the Furness line and also contains an information centre about the AONB.
