Actually, I didn't want to go back to Beyenburg until the summer, but after seeing such great photos of the crib in the monastery here (Komoot), I rescheduled at short notice and planned a tour around it for today. So the other side of the Wuppers had to get under their feet. 🥾All types of trails are present on this tour and the mud is bearable if it prevents you from walking quickly.Unfortunately, the connections between the two parts of the road are approx. 1.5km each, albeit mostly with little traffic. You should have some time for Beyenburg. It is a beautiful place with a monastery church worth seeing. When leaving the village, you must first go in the wrong direction, otherwise you will no longer get on the footpath directly on the Wupper and you have to take the country road. From my own experience in the summer, I know that there will only be a possibility to cross the tracks again at the bridge. If you want to save kilometers, you should skip the circuit of the Herbringhauser dam and go directly over the dam.The dam is completely fenced in (water protection area) and can only be seen occasionally through the trees. There is an official free parking lot at the starting point. The tour was definitely a lot of fun and there were just the right amount of people on the way, so only a few occasions 😉For the last 2km there was even sun🌞
A nice start! Happy new year. 👍🙂
By the way, a small correction: that's the Herbringhauser dam - but just as beautiful. 😉
@ Schrenki: thanks for the hint. 👍 I have corrected 😉Happy New Year to you too 🥂🍾
It is interesting to see that the right area of the crib now looks different than when I was there. Accordingly, this area is already being redesigned. They really put a lot of effort into designing the crib.
