Clearly: With the Staffelberg, the mountain of Franconia, one of the hiking highlights on the Obermain awaits you today. It starts at the hiking car park in Romansthal. After a steep but short ascent right at the beginning of the tour, there is time to breathe. Because the path now rises flat and again and again you can enjoy the view of Banz Monastery and the Main Valley. Not far and you made it: After another short ascent, the Staffelberg is conquered. It towers over the Main Valley by a whopping 280 meters - accordingly, you will be rewarded with a wonderful panoramic view of the Upper Main Valley. Today the Staffelberg with the Adelgundiskapelle and the Staffelbergklause, where you can fortify yourself with drinks and tasty snacks, is a popular destination for locals and tourists. But the Staffelberg was already a settlement area and home of the Celts over 2,000 years ago. Only recently a mighty gate in the west of the former Celtic city was archaeologically examined. On narrow paths below the impressive Staffelberg plateau back to the starting point of your tour. You can find more information about the Staffelberg here: obermain-jura.de/de/kulturregion./wahrzeichen/staffelberg.By the way: There is a well-developed network of trails around the "Mountain of Franconia" so that you can extend your tour at any time. And with the Gottesgartenrunde Süd (about 68 kilometers long) and the Frankenweg, two hiking trails that have been recognized as quality trails by the German Hiking Association lead over the Staffelberg and whet the appetite for multi-day hikes.
