Ferienwohnung Bachhuber planned a hike.
December 6, 2020
The starting point of this round tour is the interesting Finsterau open-air museum. The journey by car from the Bachhuber apartment takes about 40 minutes. Whether you pay a visit to the museum village before or after your hike is entirely up to you. Let's go into the forest. The Jugensteig takes you further and further up until you meet the Zametzer Steig and keep to the left. On flat forest paths you hike to the Alte Klause rest area, where two streams meet.Surrounded by fresh air, you follow the murmuring Reschbach up the slope. It goes through the dense, untouched green of the Bavarian Forest National Park to the Reschbachklause. Such reservoirs were previously used for the wood drift and are now a natural paradise. From the Reschbachklause you take the last few meters up to the 1,263 meter high Siebensteinkopf. When you arrive at the summit cross, you can look forward to an impressive view of the main Alpine ridge. Then it goes from Siebensteinkopf directly to the border between Germany and the Czech Republic. Parallel to the border, you march through the forest on a hiking trail that is a cross-country ski trail in winter - you can also explore this wonderful nature in winter. After about eight kilometers you will pass another hermitage: The Teufelsklause was also artificially dammed for the Holztrift.Following the Schwellgraben, you hike down into the valley. The Finsterauer Filz awaits you there, a renatured high moor with its very own vegetation. You continue to Wistlberg and from there the well-known youth path leads you back to the museum village Finsterau.
