Rundwanderung Rachelsee & Großer Rachel – Bachhubers Lieblingstouren
Ferienwohnung Bachhuber planned a hike.
December 6, 2020
The Gäll car park is the starting point for this circular hike - the journey by car from your accommodation takes about 25 minutes. And then you dive into the Bavarian Forest and start climbing the Great Rachel. It's a crisp uphill to the Lieslbrunn, where a rest bench and cold, clear water await you. The higher you climb, the lighter the rows of trees become and reveal wonderful distant views. For the last few meters to the summit, you can strengthen yourself in the rustic Waldschmidthaus and then you've made it: You are standing on the highest mountain of the Bavarian Forest National Park. From the summit cross at 1,340 meters above sea level, you can look over the endless expanses of the Bavarian Forest and the Bohemian Forest. Then you follow the route to the picturesque Rachel Chapel, which is located on a rocky promontory high above the Rachelsee. After you have thoroughly enjoyed the view, you immediately make your way down to the lake. The crystal clear Karsee was created in the last Ice Age and was carved out by glaciers. From Rachelsee it goes south along the stream. In an arc you walk past the Feistenberg refuge back to the starting point at the Gfung car park.
