This relaxed and easy hike begins at the parking lot in front of the Waldgasthof zum Falkenstein. The journey from Haus Hollerbusch by car takes about 15 minutes, alternatively you can also reach the start by public buses. From the Waldgasthof you follow the path north to the idyllic town of Zwieslerwaldhaus. At the Zollhausstraße hiking car park, keep left and walk to the end of the path - there you enter the picturesque mixed forest of the Bavarian Forest National Park. On a small bridge you cross the rushing stream Große Deffernik and at the adjoining fountain you keep left. This is where the beautiful Schwellsteig begins, which leads you through the deep green of this "Bavarian jungle". Accompanied by the alluvial canal, you walk on a wide path that can also be walked in winter. The perfect place for a break is the rustic Trifterklause Schwellhäusl. Like a picture book, the inn is located by a reflecting pond in the middle of the forest.Enjoy Bavarian specialties in the garden before continuing your tour through the beautiful nature. The Hans-Watzlik-Hain is a real experience: Here you can marvel at ancient giant trees such as the 50-meter-high Große Waldhausanne, the mightiest tree in the Bavarian Forest National Park. The exciting adventure trail leads you through the middle of the jungle-like wilderness. Finally, you will meet the Große Deffernik again and hike back to the starting point at the Waldgasthaus.
