Very nice hike to the left and right of the Wurm between Bardenberg and Herzogenrath.
The round started on the hiking car park below Wilhelmstein Castle near Würselen.
Further along the Wurm, on small hiking trails, always uphill and downhill to Herzogenrath.
During this route we enjoyed very beautiful views of the Wurm, which flows here in its natural state.
Then visited Rode Castle in Herzogenrath, unfortunately the beautiful castle café was not open.
Gone back on the other side of the Wurm to Wilhelmstein Castle near Würselen.
The castle is managed and offers, in addition to a good restaurant, a mini golf course, an open-air stage, very beautiful views from the beer garden of the Wurmtal.
It was getting dark so we walked a small hiking trail below Wilhelmstein Castle.
This is very difficult to see but really nice.
In two places we had to cross stones and streams.
Here we went wrong a bit across the meadows on the Wurm and had to go back this way. But we were able to take really nice photos of the worm.

The tour was beautiful.
But the Wurmtal continues just as beautifully, from Wilhelmstein Castle towards Aachen:

Yes, nice tour the other way around. From Herzogenrath to Würselen and back.

The Wurmtal is always beautiful. However, it is advisable to use the higher-lying paths, as the main paths in the valley are very crowded, especially when the weather is nice.

We almost could have met. The northern circuit is a must for me after the southern one has presented itself so well. Then I hope for dream weather like yesterday.
Have fun and great tours to pursue!

Thanks Marianne!
It's a shame that there is nowhere to stop at at the moment.
Would love to be in the Bardenberger Mühle or the Burgcafé
returned to Rode Castle. Both have a very nice outdoor terrace.
At the moment, however, Wilhelmstein Castle has its outdoor catering for drinks and small take-away meals.
Here we treated ourselves to a mulled wine in the cold weather

Mulled wine is a good idea for next time!

A very nice varied tour. I like it.

Thank you Nicolet!
The hiking trails in the Wurmtal do not have any steep inclines and are not particularly difficult.
It doesn't always have to be.
The Wurmtal scores with its very, very beautiful landscape!
