The sixteenth stage of the Maarten van Rossumpad is a nice mix between walking through the woods and human construction. You start your route at the Zwolse Bos and you set course towards the Tonnenberg. You walk via Landgoed Petrea along the Witte Berg and leave the forest at Wapenveld.Soon you will walk along the Apeldoorns Kanaal and you will see the IJsseldal. In the valley you can see the floodplains of the river, flanked by the Hoge Veluwe in the background. The landscape becomes more open here and you follow the canal to the Wiessenberger Kolk. The IJssel has more such broad stretches, which are called swirls. You are now entering the more than 700 year old Hanseatic city of Hattem. For an extra outing, you can go to the Bakery Museum or walk into the old town. The route of just over thirteen kilometers also ends in Hattem.
