Snow, castle and - ideally - sunshine. All this offers you this ten kilometer long winter hike in the Ammergau Alps Nature Park. You hike through Weidmoos and on through Graswang Valley to Linderhof Castle. It starts at the parking lot at the Ettaler Mühle in Ettal. Snowflake number 1 shows you the way.You immerse yourself in the quiet winter world of the Ettaler Weidmoos and listen to the typical noises that can only be heard in a snowy landscape. Your steps crunch on the snowy path that leads you to the Graswanger Weiher. Up to this point the route was still perfectly flat, but now the path climbs gently.Once at the top, the stately Linderhof Palace awaits you. King Ludwig II once strolled through the snow-covered fairy tale forest, today you can let the romantic backdrop of the castle in the snow have an impact on you. Linderhof is the smallest of the three castles of Ludwig II. Nevertheless, it is considered the favorite castle of the “fairytale king”, in which he stayed by far the most frequently. At the end of the tour, you can take bus 9622 back to the car park or to the nearby Oberammergau.
