(*)Description of the route: From Steinbach am Wald along the state road, the Rennsteig bike path runs in the direction of Tettau. Several small, gentle climbs have to be mastered. The goal and turning point of the tour is the “cold kitchen” in Thuringia. Crossroads just before the former German-German border. The former trade route from Nuremberg to Leipzig across the mountains was mentioned as early as the 9th century. There is a small stop here as well as the information center of the Thuringian Forest, Thuringian Slate Mountains / Obere Saale and Franconian Forest nature parks. From here return to Steinbach a.
