Countless Levadas flow on Madeira from the mountains down to the terraced fields. Unfortunately, the levada is currently being renovated, so that part of the hike is a construction site. We are back again.
As of December 2019, the levada has been renewed to the thick stone and again very well accessible. The way is now also easy to recognize.
In June 2021 I was able to follow the levada well. Unfortunately, it is sometimes so overgrown that you cannot see how wide the narrow path next to it is. Sometimes I avoided thick tufts of grass and was afraid that the slope would already be there. But everything went well.
Unfortunately, there are now…
We were there in March 2022 and followed the levada to the stairs. The levada is again very easy to walk on and has enough water.
Very nice tour, which, however, requires sure-footedness. Great view on a clear day.
However, the introduction is no longer correct here. From the parking lot, follow the road for about 100m into the valley and then you can already see the levada to get in
Went on this tour in early April 2023. Be sure to heed Max's advice at the beginning, otherwise you'll end up in a muddy landscape. The right way to start the tour is also described in the Rother hiking guide. Otherwise the tour is great. We had a clear view and the views were terrific.
