Breathe wideDeep forests, bright clearings, plateaus with surprising views: hiking in the Franconian Forest opens up unexpected horizons for the eyes and soul! In the face of the greatness of nature, our everyday fears and worries become void and small. We breathe space and find ourselves. You can seldom see the two faces of the Franconian Forest as clearly as on our "Muschelkalkweg": half walk it on the wooded slopes of the Franconian Forest, half it leads you through the rather flat and agriculturally heavily used hill country of Upper Main. Dark silica shale and gray volcanic rock on one side, light and sometimes almost white shell limestone on the other. The Radspitze with 678 meters of altitude on one side, the Losaugraben with 370 meters above sea level on the other: It is the greatest difference in altitude in the entire Franconian Forest! The so-called Franconian Line allows so different worlds to meet here. The hike constantly shows you the contrast! You always have the wheel tip in view - unless you are up there yourself. Here in the forest aisles open up and clear the view, far in the direction of Banz Monastery, Vierzehnheiligen, Staffelberg and the "Gottesgarten". Enjoy the view from the observation tower and marvel at the landscape level formed by the shell limestone: the view extends as far as the Jura of Franconian Switzerland! It literally means that everything has its two sides. The "Muschelkalkweg" proves this for the Franconian Forest!
