Breathe wideDeep forests, bright clearings, plateaus with surprising views: hiking in the Franconian Forest opens up unexpected horizons for the eyes and soul! In the face of the greatness of nature, our everyday fears and worries become void and small. We breathe space and find ourselves. You are standing here in the highest village in the Franconian Forest: Döbra is around 700 meters above sea level. The associated Döbraberg also makes it superlative: At 794 meters, it is the highest point in the Franconian Forest and literally a "highlight" of our varied hike! The eye wanders far from here, all the way to the Fichtelgebirge and Vogtland. We look forward to boundless views, enjoy the vastness that inspires our thoughts. In the old days, however, limitless thinking was undesirable! Where would you go if it wasn't clear to which lord a village, a tree, the cattle - and yes, the people too? Boundary stones were set and today, weathered, provide information about the old way of thinking about power. Our route "Zum alten Grenzstein" leads us back to the year 1686: In the Thronbachtal you can guess the coats of arms of the bishopric of Bamberg and the margraviate of Bayreuth on the old stone. What sounds to us like a simple regional border was much more: The stone separated Catholic from Protestant land! And to this day, the old borderline can be read from the predominant denomination of the villagers. Our varied tour brings you both before your eyes: unlimited space and the signs of restrictive thinking. And those who know the old limits will be able to enjoy their freedoms much more consciously today!
