Understand forestAisles on forest slopes, fords through rivers: Hike through the cultural landscape in the Franconian Forest Nature Park and read the traces of its history! How did people live from and with the forest? Understanding grows step by step: people change their environment and the environment changes people.Faith moves mountains, they say. But praying did not help the churchgoers here in the region, the mountains stayed in their place and with them the rifts between the denominations!Week after week, every Sunday, the believers set out on their way: Catholics from the surrounding towns climbed the Nordhalbener Kirchsteig and gathered in the parish church “St. Bartholomew ”. Exactly the opposite and a lot more strenuous pilgrimage was made by the Protestants: It was a 1.5 hour walk for the Heinersbergers who were "pastured" for the Lutheran church service in distant Geroldsgrün! It was not until 1925 that it became significantly more convenient: the new baroque Jubilate Church was built in the ground. East of the Rodach, of course, which already delimited Bamberg's territory in the 14th century and which to this day essentially separates Catholics from Protestants. Our hike “The Church Goer” takes you along the old paths! Often there are natural paths, once through spruce forest, then through beech forest - church paths well-trodden Sunday after Sunday: some believers walked in the direction of Bamberg, the others in the margravial direction - the paths were the same and united the churchgoers in their piety.
