Understand forestAisles on forest slopes, fords through rivers: Hike through the cultural landscape in the Franconian Forest Nature Park and read the traces of its history! How did people live from and with the forest? Understanding grows step by step: people change their environment and the environment changes people.Copper ore has been mined in Wirsberg since the 15th century, our circular route leads you to the entrance of the "Goldener Falk" mine. The information board there is part of the mining hiking trail, which we walk along as well as the nature trail in the Kosertal, which provides entertaining information about native birds and their breeding habits, about forest animals, natural cycles and the previous mining activities in the Kosertal. Natural paths, varied mixed forest, beautiful views and cultural monuments again and again: the Heilingskirche ruins, the first imperial monument in Bavaria, the terrace tower hill and the foundation walls of the St. Leonhard pilgrimage church. The doctor Dr. Eduard Margerie was a passionate searcher for clues and left a lot of traces himself: He founded the local branch of the Franconian Forest Association, the probably largest Franconian history association "Colloquium Historicum Wirsbergense" and the Wirsberg private clinic in the Golden Eagle Hut, which is nestled in a park with an idyllic forest backdrop.
