A popular destination in the Kermeter, Eifel National Park, is undoubtedly the Mariawald Monastery. This former monastery of the order of the Trappists is today still managed by an association "Trappistenkonvent Mariawald" and first of all the monastery restaurant with its soup kitchen is to be mentioned. But that has got around to the point that there is an awful lot of activity, especially on weekends (Sundays).Years ago we ran this round in winter and called it "soup round" for us and so we wanted to see the monastery again - almost as a weekend end.But despite or precisely because of this special time today, the rush was so great that we only said "Hello" for a short time and kept walking. We got the soup in Wolfgarten in the Kermeterschänke, relaxed and without much rush.About the tour as such it can be said: Ascent to Wolfgarten, over the (longer) wilderness trail to Mariawald and back over the (shorter) rock path ... Here: forest, forest and ... a lot of forest. Views and open spaces are only a handful, but this was not a shortcoming in today's weather.I think we'll be back in winter ...
