This tour is an excellent route, advertised as the three valleys tour Schleiden-Gemünd with entry in Schleiden or Gemünd and has the hiking number 24 on the signs. We start at the Tor Gemünd National Park and first turn to the Eifelsteig, which leads us parallel to the Olef through the valley of the same name. It goes over the Kuckuckslay and only on the Eifelsteig descent to Olef does the hiking trail 24 lead us up to the right with the ascent to the Lützenberg.
At the highest point a nice resting place with a wide view of the Oleftal, then it goes down towards Schleiden.
However, we skip the detour to the center of Schleiden (around 1.2 km there and back) and quickly turn our backs on Gemündener Straße to climb back up through the Höddelbachtal towards Herhahn.
The Cafe Chalet in Herhahn is a real tip and a welcome little stop for us.
The descent then leads back to Gemünd in the lovely Braubach Valley, which brings the valley trio to an end.
Conclusion: A really nice tour for Eifel fans of forest, water and wilderness. Suitable for every season (and weather).
