The demanding crossing of the Mittelbergsplateau is the Königstour am Untersberg and especially suitable for experienced hikers. You start your tour at the mountain station of the Untersbergbahn. Alternatively, you can climb up to the Zeppezauerhaus the day before and stay overnight there. From the cable car station it goes over the Geiereck and the Salzburger Hochthrohn up to Mittagsscharte. You walk through the gap and follow the course of the ridge to the Hochalpkopf. From this point you walk in the high plateau. At a slight slope you follow the trail through the impressive landscape to the western edge of the plateau. There you hike in the direction of Klingeralm and descend over the Klingersteig. The hiking trail leads you finally to Fürstenbrunn. The tour can of course be hiked in other directions. If you want to go down to the valley on the same day from the destination at Geiereck with the cable car, you should first inform yourself about the time of the last descent.
