To be honest, I wasn't expecting so much from this little hiking excursion. Because I know the nature around Jena very well. However, I was pleasantly surprised by how beautiful the valley near Kunitz and Lassan is. It is framed by the surrounding mountains almost like a picture book, and the nature is very varied, extremely idyllic, and simply wonderful. Especially now in autumn, when it shines in all its blaze of color.The Gleisberg or Kunitz Castle offers an amazingly beautiful view of Jena's valley. So: a successful excursion.

There is also a horseshoe trail or something like that. The place Laasan is also nicely located in the middle of it. I was there for the last time when I was 15 years old. 😏

Yes that's true. The ridge that runs from Jenzig to Gleisburg (Kunitzburg) is called a horseshoe. It wraps itself around Laasan like a horseshoe.
