On the Römerweg Hunsrück you hike in the footsteps of Roman legionaries - along the route they show you the way on small signs. In addition, you can expect wide views of the Eifel, picturesque stream valleys and rugged rock formations. From Gornhausen it goes south. After a few meters you turn right and on soft forest paths that are covered with colorful leaves in autumn, you hike up a hill. A fantastic Eifel panorama awaits you at the Kaisergarten. Then you will meet the old Roman road, which once connected the Roman settlement Belginum and the Moselle fort Neumagen.Past the “Richterborn” spring you will reach a rest area and after a break you will descend into the valley to Hirzlei. It is worth taking a detour up to the pulpit, a rocky lookout point with a view of the Frohnbachtal. In autumn you can see a sea of colorful leaves here. From Hirzlei you hike slightly uphill again to the settlement Klaramühle, where you can stop at the small forest café. Strengthened, you then follow the route steadily uphill to the impressive Barbelley rock. It goes back to Gornhausen through the forest and over open fields.
