This spectacular ride took us through the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
With 70.2 miles (113 km) of distance and 4,987 feet (1,520 m) of elevation gain, this was a challenging route to undertake. However, our efforts were rewarded with first-class scenery throughout, some epic climbs, exhilarating descents, and miles-upon-miles of empty lanes to enjoy.
Some highlights along the way included: Pateley Bridge, a picturesque village that featured in the first stages of the 2014 Tour de France; the Greenhow Hill Climb, a Top 100 climb where the pain comes in bursts over four distinct steep stretches; the Malham Cove descent, a white-knuckle belter; and Wharfe View Tea Rooms, a favourite among cyclists right before the final climb of the day.
If you want to try this ride, an alternative start/finish would be Burnsall, as there are cafes and a pub, plus parking and camping.
