This enchanting loop through the Yorkshire Dales packed a lot of fun and beauty into 150 minutes of riding, making for a great finish to the weekend.
With 38.6 miles (62.1 km) of distance and 2,625 feet (800 m) of elevation gain, this was pretty challenging in places. Overall, however, it was a short-but-sweet blast with lots to enjoy.
We started from Burnsall, a delightful Dales’ village on the banks of the River Wharfe. There are plenty of opportunities for food and drink here, which were very welcome at the finish.
Highlights along this ride included: Malham Cove, a thrilling high-speed descent through the Dales; the Barden Moor Climb, a twisting road with fabulous views and a gradient of up to 21% in places; and finishing at Wharfe View Tea Rooms.
To extend this route, you could begin in Ilkley or Harrogate. That way, you get to climb Greenhow, an epic Top 100.
