Adventure 1 – Day 2 – Buttermere hike
Ford Weekend Adventures planned a hike.
October 8, 2020
Buttermere is one of the few lakes in the Lake District that it is possible to walk all the way around. As such, it makes for a quick and easy loop that is packed with interest and beauty.
A little under 5 miles (8 km) long and almost entirely level, this is a great little hike that you can complete in two hours. Alternatively, you can take your time, admire views of the Haystacks, and relax on Buttermere’s beaches and bays.
Buttermere village is a 20-minute drive from Inside Out Camping along the B5289. Just before you reach the village, there is a road to the right where you find ample parking.
On this lovely loop, you are afforded glorious views from the lakeside path. There are lots of spots for picnics, too. If the weather is fine, you can also find plenty of wild swimming spots.
As you start and finish in the hamlet of Buttermere, there are opportunities for food and drink as it has a few pubs and tearooms.
