The Castagno mountain bike tour leads through the northern part of the Alto Malcantone. In addition to dense chestnut and birch forests, this tour gives you incredible views of the Ticino mountain landscape. The round tour starts and ends at the train station in Magliaso. It leads you through villages, meadows, forests and again and again past gurgling mountain streams. To complete the experience of nature, there are also small ponds on the way, in whose black water the sky is beautifully reflected. A waterfall is also waiting to be discovered by you.Between Arosio and Breno you can find out more about the chestnut forest and the processing of chestnut wood on the information boards of the “Sentiero des Castagno”. You can also get to the bottom of the traces of human creativity on this tour. In Maglio di Aranno on the banks of the Magliasina stream, you will learn how a hammer mill could be operated using water power. The tour leads over the "Sentiero delle Meraviglie" to Ponte di Vello (Breno). There you can look for traces again and discover the region's industrial past through mines, ovens and old industrial buildings.
