This easy mountain hike from Galtür to the Jamtalhütte takes you to one of the most fascinating high mountain regions in the Alps. On the way through the wild and romantic Jamtal, you have wonderful views of the Silvretta summit, especially on Jamtalferner with the Jamtalspitzen and on the Dreiländerspitze. From the bus stop and the car park at the church of Galtür, head south into Jamtal. Along the Jambach you walk comfortably and in a moderate slope into the valley. While you follow the "footpath to the Jamtalhütte", after about an hour's walk you will reach the first intermediate station, the Schnapfenalpe (1,735 meters). Here graze cattle from the Vorarlberg Göfis and the Tyrolean Oberinntal. From the other side the Scheibenalpe greets you with the nice snack station. If you like, make a detour to Jambach for a leisurely break.Subsequently, the ground changes, the alpine pastures are replaced by a stony valley cut. You cross two stream beds on narrow boardwalks and the trail turns serpentine up to the foot of the Jamtalferner and the Jamtalhütte (2,165 meters).Nearly 200 beds are available in the hut, also here is well cooked and the hikers can cater very well.At the end of this tour, the Jamtalhütte, it is worth taking a look behind the house. At the head of the valley, the Augstenberg massif rises up here and you can see the striking summit of the Dreiländerspitze over the vast glacier fields. Mountaineers use the Jamtalhütte as a base for extensive tours, because dozens of summits can be climbed from here. The way back is the same way as the ascent.
