The second stage takes you through lush meadows and tranquil villages. The highlights of the day are the Wurzacher Ried, the spa town of the same name and the town of Leutkirch in the Allgäu.To the south of Ochsenhausen you will pass the former Benedictine monastery at the beginning of this day. The famous Gabler organ, the monastery museum, the observatory and the library room are absolutely worth seeing. Then the bike path climbs the first hills of the day. In the next few hours your gaze wanders from narrow country roads over small villages and green strips. In the west you can see the ridge of the up to 776 meter high Altdorf Forest and to the south the mighty Allgäu Alps with their impressive peaks, ridges and wildly romantic valleys build up. After a good twelve kilometers you will reach Füramoos, where you can take a break in the Rössle restaurant or at the idyllic wooden pond. The pond is a bit off the bike path - we have planned the detour for you right away. Then you can let your bike roll with relish down into the valley of the Wurzacher Ried. You owe this picture-book landscape to the huge ice flows that once covered the northern foothills of the Alps. Several times, most recently in the Würm Ice Age, which ended 10,000 years ago, huge glaciers buried the terrain under their masses of ice and debris, modeled the hills and carved out valleys. 800 plant and 1,500 animal species find ideal living conditions in the extensive moorland, the colorful reed meadows and the countless moats of the nature reserve. In the nearby spa town of Bad Wurzach you will find relaxation in the Vitalium-Therme thermal baths. An important stop on Oberschwäbische Barockstraße is the three-winged castle with the opulently decorated staircase. In the city center of Leutkirch im Allgäu, today's stage destination, you will instantly become a time traveler: Cobbled streets are lined with handsome half-timbered and town houses, of which the Gothic House, completed in 1379, is one of the oldest in the region. You can find more information about the second stage at oberschwaben-tourismus.de/touren/oberschwaben-allgaeu-radweg-etappe-2-von-ochsenhausen-nach-leutkirch-e4bab7b2f1.
