One of 13 tour sections around my hometown Wuppertal. The total length of the routes is approx. 104 km. With the kind permission of the Sauerland Mountain Association Dept. Wuppertal, taken from the book "Hiking in Wuppertal" (ISBN 978-3-00-064869-4).Note: I have transferred the tours to Komoot as best I can. When in doubt, always follow the Ⓦ sign (capital W in a circle). Have fun hiking!

I went this tour last Sunday. If the beginning is not really "natural" (despite a lot of green and the beautiful "meadow of the old apple varieties"), it will soon go to the wooded south of Wuppertal. On beautiful paths through mixed forests, a less beautiful stretch of road and a longer stretch through a settlement lead to the historic district of Heidt with partly beautifully restored half-timbered houses. Then it goes down towards Ronsdorfer Talsperre, where you can take a short break to study the many information boards. It continues downhill along the Saalbach, past beautiful wet meadows and valley meadows. Many information boards explain the history of the earlier hammers and kotten, a form of economic activity that was characteristic of this region. Below you come to the traditional "Zillertal" restaurant, where Gelpe and Saalbach meet. Shortly before the end of the tour, you reach the remarkable district of Clemenshammer, with the "Steffenshammer", the only remaining of the historical hammers. The tour ends at the "Gerstau" stop.
