You can already see the first highlight of the trip from the train station, the starting point of the Danube-Lake Constance cycle path - the church tower of Ulm Minster is the highest in the world. From the center you drive past the romantic fishing and tanning district from the birthplace of Albert Einstein and follow the Danube upstream. After six relaxing kilometers you can take a detour to Wiblingen Monastery. Then the Danube-Lake Constance cycle path turns south and meanders gently uphill through open arable land. The first stop on the way is Laupheim, once the largest Jewish community in the Kingdom of Württemberg. The museum on the history of Christians and Jews, located in Großlaupheim Castle, deals with the coexistence of the two related religions on three floors. On the southern outskirts, you can also experience exciting star shows in the planetarium.Afterwards, the cycle touring route follows the course of the narrow river Riß, away from the main roads, which gives its name to the penultimate ice age in the Alpine region - the Riß glacial period. At his side it goes via Schemmerberg and Warthausen towards the first stage destination Biberach. You steer through the Ulmer Tor, the beginnings of which go back to the year 1365, and roll in amazement into the heart of the former imperial city, which forms the geographical center of the idyllic region. You can find bike-friendly accommodation, for example, in the Hotel Kapuziner Hof.You can find more information about the first stage at oberschwaben-tourismus.de/touren/donau-bodensee-radweg-etappe-1-von-ulm-nach-biberach-28ff02fee7.
