Stage 4 from the Harzer-Hexen-Stieg begins in Drei Annen Hohne and leads in two variants to Altenbrak. The southern variant we are on today is the alternative route and runs south from the Rappbode reservoir via Hasselfelde. The main route is the north variant north of the Rappbode reservoir via Rübeland. In order to reduce the overlap of the north and south variants of stage 4, we extended stage 3 yesterday to Königshütte, so that we only start there. The southern variant of stage 4 is themed:"The Koehler Trail"It initially runs on the path of German emperors and kings of the Middle Ages and from Hasselfelde on the Köhlerweg. With this variant, too, shortly after the start, we come across the Königshütte waterfall, a small artificially created waterfall with a stamp. Since this is now at the bottom of the rest area and no longer at the top, you can save yourself the trip. After 2.8 km we reach the Harzer-Hexen-Stieg-Teiler, where the north and south variants are divided. Immediately to the right of this point, a side path also leads up to the Königsburg ruin. Since the detour is worthwhile, we take the somewhat steeper and narrower serpentine path up to the former Adelsburg and enjoy the view with Brocken view and view of the Wurmberg. The way back to the south route leads us to the Hexen-Stieg station "Thornkreis".After we are back on the southern route, the path runs 1 km along the Warmen Bode, before it branches off and climbs for a good 2 km to the highest point of the stage, the 493 m high "Die Lange" trail. A good 3 km later we reach the beautiful viewpoint "Rappbodeblicke Trautenstein" with its view of the Rappbode-Vorsperre.We cross the dam and turn off shortly thereafter to come to the Trageburg ground monument. Even if nothing much of it is to be seen, the view is worthwhile. From there it goes over the large mill valley to the Hassel pre-lock and on to Hasselfelde. From Hasselfelde we hike on the Köhlerweg, pass the Hexen-Stieg station "Weidekühe" and several Köhlerweg stations as well as the Harz charcoal factory with charcoal museum. From there the path leads on the Siebengründeweg through beautiful deciduous forest up to the rock nose with the viewpoint "Schöneburg" with a view to Altenbrak in the Bodetal. On a beautiful path and later a narrow path, it goes down to the Harzer-Hexen-Stieg-Teiler.At Altenbrak we meet the Harzer-Hexen-Stieg-Teiler again, where the north and south variants of stage 4 reunite. Around 600 m further there is a small parking lot for hikers. But since we are standing in the large parking lot, our path continues along the Harzer-Hexen-Stieg for around 900 m.
