The first leg of the BahnRadwegs Hessen takes you from Hanau to the health resort of Gedern. Along the way you could expect a lot of nature, historic half-timbered houses, romantic bridges over the Nidder and a uniquely wide view from the highest points of the cycle path.It starts at the main station in Hanau. From here you drive along the river Main to the Schlosspark Philippsruhe, where you can see the impressive castle. Then the route takes you out of the city into nature. Over wide fields, it is always slightly uphill to the north. On the way you come every now and then through small places where there are restaurants and rest stops. The old railway line of the Oberwaldbahn finally takes you to the slightly higher Gedern. In the cozy health resort, which is the stage destination of today's tour, there are many accommodation options in apartments as well as in hotels or guesthouses. If your tour ends here, you can leave by bus. Between the first of May and the last Sunday in October, the so-called Vulkan Express busses with bicycle trailers are in use on weekends and public holidays. It is the Oberwaldbahn, not Oderwaldbahn.
