The Vierzehnheiligen basilica near Bad Staffelstein in the Lichtenfels district is the most famous and most magnificent pilgrimage church in Upper Franconia. The church, built according to plans by Balthasar Neumann, is dedicated to the Fourteen Holy Helpers. It has about half a million visitors a year. In addition to the Marienweiher basilica, the Bamberg Cathedral and the Gößweinstein basilica, the Vierzehnheiligen basilica is the fourth minor basilica of the Archdiocese of Bamberg. You can combine the visit with a hike and approach the spiritual place through quiet meadow valleys. (there and back: 13.4 kilometers, 3:30 hours, up and down: 450 meters)
