Marienberg Fortress towers high above the university town of Würzburg, surrounded by picturesque vineyards - a wonderful destination for your discovery tours through the city. This almost seven-kilometer round tour starts at the western end of the Old Marienbrücke.The climb up to the fortress is not long in coming. For this you will arrive at the top, rewarded with a fantastic view of Würzburg, the Main and the surrounding landscape. Stroll through the 1,300 square meter Fürstengarten or discover the magnificent complex on a guided tour.You continue downhill through the vineyards, before you master the next, short climb up to the pilgrimage church of the Visitation, or Käppele for short. It is worth pausing here for a moment. Take a look at the ceiling frescoes inside the church and let the tranquility of the place affect you. From Nikolausberg you also have another great view of Würzburg's old town.If your stomach is rumbling by now, you can stop off at the nearby Schützenhof. There the path makes a turn and leads you back to your starting point on the banks of the Main.
