The eighth and penultimate day of our hike on the Heidschnuckenweg is again a double stage. We first hike on stage 11 from Oberoher Heide to Weesen. Immediately afterwards we follow stage 12 from Weesen to Dehningshof, where today's tour ends at the restaurant "Zur Alten Fuhrmanns-Schänke".Today starts all over again with the Oberoher Heide, before we go through a beautiful pine forest passage to the heather areas on the Schillohsberg (middle Lüß plateau). In addition to a very beautiful view, the Heide Adventure Trail also offers a lot of interesting information about the heath.Shortly afterwards we reach Lutterloh, where there is a nice resting place in the middle of the village. This is followed by a several kilometers long "speed track" - a wide, dead straight road without major "distractions" - next to a pine forest towards Weesen.Shortly after Weesen there is another real highlight - unfortunately very well attended at the weekend: the Misselhorn Heath. The Misselhorn Heath stretches like an elongated arch over 2 km through the forest, before shortly afterwards the heather areas of Tiefental join. Then we continue through forest passages until we reach the next real highlight after about 26 km: the heather areas and the pond at Angelbecksteich. Here you have to be careful that you catch the junction from the wide path (see sign at 26.6 km) and not follow the shortcut straight ahead, because otherwise you will miss a lot of very nice impressions.Angelbecksteich impresses with its heather areas and the beautiful pond. However, one should also pay attention to the plaque commemorating the great forest fire in 1975. From Angelbecksteich it is now only a little more than 1 km to "Zur Alten Fuhrmanns-Schänke", where today's day ends.Highlights of "Stage 11 - Mysterious Südheide"- Oberoher Heide with herd of Heidschnucken,- Heidedorf Lutterloh,- Heide am Schillohsberg,- HeideerlebnispfadHighlights of "Stage 12 - Tiefental and Conflagration"- Misselhorn Heath with herd of Heidschnucken,- Tiefental,- Angelbeckstein
Stamp points on the way:Section "Oberoher Heide - Weesen"- Kiek in Hotel im Wiesengrund, WeesenSection "Weesen - Dehningshof"- To the old carter's tavern, DehningshofGPS track:The GPS track already contains the path from the Oberoher Heide hiking car park via the access road back to the Heidschnuckenweg (approx. 2 km). After 2.4 km we briefly leave the Heidschnuckenweg for a 1 km long circular route because we thought we had spotted a herd of Heidschnucken (unfortunately it was only a Fatamorgana). This circular route does not (!) Belong to the Heidschnuckenweg and can be left out. This hike is part of our collection:"Heidschnuckenweg (Lüneburg Heath)"komoot.de/collection/966538/-heidschnuckenweg-lueneburger-heide
Very nice pictures, great description of the tour 👍

What a wonderful area, the heath! You immediately feel like hiking with them! But I also pay you the greatest respect, because the route certainly runs a lot without shade, and that in the heat of the past few days! And your descriptions, like from a textbook! Great pictures!Have fun with the last stage!
Beautiful pictures with a great description 😊. It is really impressive how great these extensive heather areas look in all their glory!
@FrankGas, @Frank, @Julie:Thank you very much for your great comments. Yesterday we completed the Heidschnuckenweg ... at the time of the heather blossom it was just a dream and absolutely recommendable.@Frank:Yes, the weather was quite a challenge ... sometimes in the blazing sun without shade - especially on the beautiful large heathland - and then again muggy and stuffy in the shady forests ... but it's just worth it 😉
