Dinkelsbühl planned a hike.
August 21, 2020
The loneliness and tranquility of the old Mutschach forest area awaits you on this extensive circuit in the northeast of Dinkelsbühl. A dense network of paths runs through the forest. On this tour you head for the highest point of the forest and walk past beautiful ponds and ponds. It starts at the bus stop at Altrathausplatz. You leave the old town of Dinkelsbühl through the striking Wörnitztor and cross the Wörnitz. The Mutschachweg leads you directly into the forest area of the same name. After about three kilometers you will reach the Kneipp-Brünnle. When it is filled with water, it is a good opportunity to take off your hiking boots and treat your feet to refreshment. A couple of benches are also available. On your way through the forest, mighty oaks and beeches alternate with spruce stands and provide a home for woodpeckers and bats. Halfway through the route you come to Halsbach. The Romanesque basilica of St. Peter and Paul from the 12th century, which was converted to Baroque style in the 18th century, characterizes the village. Now you dive back into the Mutschach area.As soon as you reach a chain of small fish ponds, you've earned a cool drink in the forest restaurant. You can also enjoy this in peace, because it's only a stone's throw back to the starting point.
