Dinkelsbühl planned a hike.
August 21, 2020
This scenic and varied round tour through the western areas of Dinkelsbühl is all about the Dinkelsbühl carp. Small streams and ditches always accompany you and bring you to pretty fish ponds and natural ponds. With a little luck you can see a heron or stork harvesting fish. After your start in the romantic old town, you walk through the Wörnitztor and out into the wide landscape. Follow the railway line for a short distance, then turn off to the hammer mill. The blacksmiths used to make sickles and scythes in the mill. From here on you will come across water again and again as the determining element. Even the smallest brooks were dammed in the Middle Ages. According to legend, there were as many ponds in this area as there are days in the year. The numerous ponds that still exist today accompany you to Karlsholz, where you immerse yourself in the Mutschachwald. A large part of Dinkelsbühl's drinking water is obtained here and stored in large water towers. A wonderful mixed forest of spruce, beech and oak lines your path until you reach the outskirts of Dinkelsbühl again via Mutschachweg. After this nice round, a stop for typical Franconian cuisine and a fine drop at the historic wine market is the perfect place.
