In Deuschnofen we are picked up by Lukas Terzer, who accompanies us to Kurtatsch. The start is south-east of Nova Ponente and it first goes over an asphalt forest path (later gravel) to Guggenbichl. Pay close attention to the signs here. We took the wrong turn and ended up in a no longer used, overgrown forest path. With the Weißhorn always on the left, a forest road leads to the Schönrastalm - a great place in the middle of a forest clearing, where lunch is good. After strengthening, we pedal back 500m and let gravity take us over the 8A trail and forest roads to Aldein. But it doesn't stop with the trails - we look for and find the 10er trail and get out at Montan. The trail is easy to ride, only a few places are technical and may require dismounting. From now on it will be historical. We follow the former railway line and even come through two old, unlit tunnels. There is even an aqueduct on the route section. To see this, you only have to drive a very small loop, which at the same time rewards with a wonderful view over the South Tyrolean lowlands. The closer we get to Neumarkt, the more apple orchards come to us. In the valley floor, apples are grown in abundance - a great sight for someone who is not familiar with it. The direct route to Kurtatsch would be via the busy wine route. We avoid this and drive down a quiet side street, which was the main street decades ago.It is suddenly very warm. Those who love the warmth are in good hands in this area of South Tyrol.
