Wheat fields, orchards and sheep pastures: This round takes you through the picturesque Franconian landscape up to the Högelstein, which offers you a wide view. The long hike begins at the parking lot near the Kellerwald or at Forchheim train station - from there it's one and a half kilometers to the starting point of the hike. You leave the city to the northeast and find yourself at the Örtlbergweihern in idyllic nature. Between fields and trees you walk past Bammersdorf. The climb to the Högelstein begins behind the village. However, you do not take the direct way up, but turn left again to climb north from Kauernhofen. On the way you always have a beautiful view of the imposing Jägersburg Castle. In a large round you finally reach the vantage point on the Högelstein, which invites you to take a break with a bench and a view. Then you hike south downhill and walk past rescuers to the left. If you fancy a few Franconian specialties, you can make a detour to the inn in the town center. Then you make your way back to Forchheim on secluded forest paths.
