Rich in history, Maulbronn presents itself as the northernmost corner of the Northern Black Forest region. The leisurely day trip starts at the station of Mühlacker and leads you after a small piece through farmland into the tub forest. In the Wannenwald you follow the historical "Landesdefensionslinie" which was supposed to prevent French raids during the Palatinate War of Succession. The view from the rebuilt defensive towers over Baden and the Palatinate shows the strategically advantageous location on the natural wall. From the south you can now reach the tranquil town of Maulbronn, whose beautiful historic abbey is well deserved UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Maulbronn Monastery is considered the best preserved medieval monastery north of the Alps. The old-venerable halls even impress Geschichtsmuffel and look particularly beautiful in the autumn light. When you've had enough, hit the way back over Lienzigen. Another historic highlight in the Enzkreis, which you reach after the tour section below the Eichelberg. The special feature of Lienzigen is next to its elaborately restored half-timbered houses, the center, which consists of an almost completely closed barn ring. Take a tour through the Scheunenring and take a break in the pub "Zum Nachtwächter" before heading back to Mühlacker.
