This short but crisp tour offers a spectacular panorama of the ridge of Hornisgrinde over the Rhine Valley. You start at the station Unterstmatt and follow the right way direction Hornisgrinde, past the ski slopes, through the coniferous forest, always steeply up the hill, to the small grinde. This part of the ridge is already part of the two kilometer long Hornisgrinde, which is the highest mountain in the northern Black Forest with its 1163 m.On the way to the Hornisgrindenturm you will cross bogs that shine in all colors, especially in autumn. From the lookout tower you have a fantastic panoramic view over the Black Forest, the Rhine Valley and even to the Vosges.A few hundred meters further you pass the highest point in Württemberg at the Dreifürstenstein, before the path leads down to the mystical Mummelsee with the enchanting St. Michaelskappele. On the other side of the lake you climb back up to the Hornisgrinde and once again enjoy the view from the ridge, before you hike around the dog back on the Hans Reymann way back to the valley. At the foot of the Muhrkopf ski lift, you can also enjoy a wonderful meal at the Großer Tanne and let the day fade away.
The Dreifürstenstein is only the highest point of the Württemberg state part of BW. The Feldberg is with 1493 meters the highest mountain in the southwest. He belongs to Baden.
