This tour is packed with highlights around the Saale valley. The route leads over the Rote Berg with fantastic views along the Saale arches above Kaulsdorf. From Kamsdorf you follow the dreamy valley of the Wutsche to the vicinity of its source at Gosswitz.Soon you will reach Gustavs Ruh, one of the best viewpoints over the western part of the Hohenwartetalsperre. A beautiful, slightly rooted trail runs from the neighboring Klinkhardtshöhe to the “Waldhotel Am Stausee”. On the sun terrace you can enjoy food and drink and a wonderful view of the Saale.A hiking path with a short zigzag trail leads to the driveway over the dam. Here you can shorten the tour by taking the Saaleradweg to Kaulsdorf. Otherwise there is a marked rise up to the upper basin of the hydroelectric power station on the Amalienhöhe.On the trail from the parents' bench to the pipe bridge, you should expect hikers on weekends, as this spectacular place is popular. It now goes rapidly down to Eichicht, where you cycle a piece on the Saale Cycle Path. In Breternitz you leave the path again and follow the Saaletrail from Weischwitz to Reschwitz. Soon you will be back in Saalfeld and can end the day with a cold beer.
