The starting point is the Porschdorf stop or the parking lot at Polenztal in Porschdorf. This is where our path (blue line) begins into the Tiefen Grund. The path meanders along the Tiefen Grundbach, sometimes up and back down to the creek. Later we branch off to the left and hike (blue line) up the fire steps. About 850 steps and 150 strenuous vertical meters lie between the Tiefen Grund near Porschdorf and the rocky plateau high up. The area has been called “fire” since the plateau, including the surrounding forests, was on fire in the 18th century. We walk on historical paths. The fire steps are part of the classic route of the Malerweg through Saxon Switzerland. The artists were attracted by the dramatic nature of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains: bizarre rock sculptures, clammy green gorges and lofty table mountains left deep impressions and subsequent works were created. After the ascent, we continue towards Brandbaude - here we are on the edge of the slope. As if on a balcony, only the railing separates us from the land, the table mountains in the distance and the deep canyon of the Polenz below us. The fire view is one of the most beautiful views in Saxon Switzerland. The historical ensemble of the Brand-Baude consists of a restaurant, accommodation and national park information point. From here we walk a little on Brandstrasse (blue line) and soon branch off to the left following the red line marking, down the Schulzengrund into the Polenztal. In the valley we turn left (red dot) and we stay on the river side to get back to the starting point. The tour is suitable for both children and dogs.Starting and ending point:Hp. Porschdorf (U28 direction Rumburk from Bad Schandau National Park Station) or Porschdorf car park
