A mixed tour, especially at the beginning you have quite a lot of forest paths where you sink very heavily in the sand, maybe still manageable with a mountain bike, but not so pleasant with a touring bike, though feasible (if you love your bike, you push).I disregard a handbike recommendation here, there are a number of ways to do this, especially around Völkersen and shortly before the Haberloh café, which is still closed (August 1, 2020).The signage is not always optimal and here and there it is unfortunately missing. When we started this tour 8 years ago we looked for the signs more than we could drive really well. Here the GPS helps really well.It was nice that we still got such a nice round with passengers. Such tours are simply more fun with several people. The ice coffee Melissa in Etelsen is really recommended and to stay there. We did not visit the lock and the castle in or to Etelsen, as we have been there several times, but for someone who has not been there they could be interesting. Also nice photos for the tour of Ulli-2019 to go with the tour.

We never drove from Völkersen to Haberloh. How were the paths here? I found the piece in front of Völkersen to be a bit queasy.

Feasible for touring bikes, a little sand here and there, but not so that you have to dismount. A sandpit is only on the tour between Schülingen and Völkersen.

thank you

We had other tires fitted, in the middle a web for asphalt and on the sides lugs (Schwalbe Marathon GT 365). Since then, short sand has lost its horror.

Yes, I had such a profile on my ATB 25 years ago and was very satisfied with it. My wife probably sees it differently anyway :)

Moin Dominik,
a warm greeting to your wife. When I drove through our "sandpit" to the horse this morning, I thought of you and took photos of the tires. I would have hired her here too, but fails because of my lack of ability 🙄.This is the tour:With a dog for swimming and a horse
komoot.de/tour/t235717452?ref=atdThese tires are an absolute hit, we don't want to be without them anymore.
Grounds such as gravel, mud, wet asphalt - you have a lot more grip and are safer on the road. Nevertheless, the tire runs quietly on asphalt and pavement. Before that, we had Schwalbe's Big Ben as tires. Our daughter drives an Ontario from Villinger and has had narrow touring tires up to now. The width has remained, no other size fits, but it is now the Marthon GT 365, even with the narrow tires it gets through mud and short sand better.
It looks good on both wheels. 😎😁
