Österreichs Wanderdörfer planned a hike.
September 7, 2017
This almost seven-kilometer tour is perfect for a half-day hike with a dog. It will take you to the Klagenfurter Hütte in the Carnica-Region Rosental, from where you can enjoy a spectacular panorama. Parking is available after driving through the idyllic Bärental at the Stouhütte or the Johannsenruhe. In winter, please take the first parking lot at the Stouhütte. The walking time is extended by about half an hour. The path from the parking lots is marked with route number 603 and leads across a wide gravel forest road, which is easy to do both in summer and in winter (with enough snow with snowshoes or touring skis). Those who prefer a more natural approach can bypass the forest path partly by marked short cuts along the old hut trail, which leads through a forest with large boulders. Your dog should already have experience with alpine hikes. Passing the Matschacher Alm, the path to the Klagenfurter Hütte at 1,664 meters above sea level is not far away. The hut itself is idyllically nestled in the midst of the Karawanken Mountains and offers magnificent views of the rocky backdrop of the high chair, the Klagenfurter Spitze and the Bielschitza. If you want to extend the day, or plan a long hike, you can stay overnight at the hut. The 2016 refurbished hut offers 40 beds in the dormitory. Even dogs are taken overnight. However, a cleaning fee of € 5, - per dog will be charged. The alternative route to the Klagenfurter Hütte over the Bodental is recommended in the summer months with the Meerauge on the way and the partially insured Stinzesteig, but also much more demanding. In the winter months, however, it is not recommended.
