On this bike tour you will learn and experience all the important connections around the famous sky disk of Nebra. The circular bronze plate is one of the most fascinating prehistoric finds. Today she tells us a lot about early astronomical knowledge and how people made use of it, at the same time she still puzzles us. Plan a full day or maybe even two for this tour because there is a lot to discover. An excellent stage stop is offered, for example, at the Sweet Lake. There is even a campsite there. You start your journey of discovery southwest of Nebra in Wangen at the train station, where you will reach the “Arche Nebra” adventure center after just one kilometer. The sky disk is not exhibited here, but you will find out everything about the location and the knowledge contained in it in an impressive exhibition. In this context, a visit to the site itself should not be missed. There is also a lookout tower where you can try out the function of the sky disk practically "live".With so many new impressions, you drive from Mittelberg through the Zieglroda Forest to Querfurt, where the town center invites you to take a long break and the huge castle complex to explore further. From here you drive further north and reach the Salzige See after almost 20 kilometers. The road here leads directly through the lake and can sometimes be flooded at high tide, which gives the word "jaunt" a whole new meaning. Shortly afterwards you will reach the Süß See, which is an ideal stage stop if you want to split the tour into two days. Now you drive further east, pass many small lakes and ponds and pass the villages of Rollsdorf, Zappendorf and Lieksau. In the forest area Dölauer Heide you can, if you want, make a small detour to a burial mound. Although this is not directly related to the Nebra sky disk, it comes from a similar period. Then you drive to Halle an der Saale, where you can treat yourself to an extensive refreshment on the island of Peißnitz before you finally see the highlight of the tour in the State Museum of Prehistory: the Nebra Sky Disc. From the train station in Halle you finally come back perfectly to your starting point.
