LENGTH 17.6 km; ASCENT 274 m; DESCENT 156 m; DIFFICULTY medium; TIME 5:00 h9 wooden sculptures by international artists line the 17 km long pilgrimage route from Untermerzbach to Vierzehnheiligen. The path leads the pilgrim past the small nature park community Untermerzbach, which is characterized by wide meadows, Franconian half-timbered houses and small baroque castles. On the pilgrimage route through the scenic Itztal, various architectural monuments await us, such as the St. Wolfgang Church in Kaltenbrunn and the Jakobskirche in Herreth. Again and again you come across a beer garden or an inn, where you can take a break in the historical atmosphere. After you have reached the destination, the pilgrimage basilica Vierzehnheiligen, you can enjoy a wonderful view over the Main Valley from the Staffelberg near Bad Staffelstein, the birthplace of Adam Riese.
Sculpture S13: New beginning [A sign of the passage into the new. A look at the coming ups and downs.]Sculpture S14: Shadow [A burned-out skeleton, a soul prison, thrown away on the side of the road. In addition to the holy, the unholy also comes into consciousness.]Sculpture S15: Encounter on a pilgrimage [Originally grounded and reduced to the essential; Signs that every pilgrim can read.]Sculpture S16: Meal time [In the slightly moving stele, very upright and cheerful, food and drink, hunger and food are deliberately depicted.]Sculpture S17: James the Elder [A silent James who pauses for prayer on his pilgrimage.]Sculpture S18: attract attention [The lonely caller in the concrete desert carries his other self in the back.]Sculpture S19: Gratitude [A silent longing expresses the sculpture. The braid breaks the sharp edges and spreads heat.]Sculpture S20: Silence, Being Alone [An unmistakable Heinz Günther, permanent and immovable. A self-contained pilgrim is resting on the way.]Sculpture S21: Arrive [The pilgrimage is like a life journey, the arrival brings us closer to us.]
Very, very beautiful - the route is also on my list for this year. It's almost on my doorstep

Great tour with culture, beautiful landscape and top photos. The habitable windmill is strong ... 👍😊🙋♂️
Very interesting tour!Do you actually know all the plants along the way with their names or do you look it up?And how do you know that this is a female beetle and not a male 🤔🤔
@Doris: I am very interested in nature and plants and wildflowers have always fascinated me. I actually know a lot and if I am not sure, I look with the Flora Incognita app! It's really great and you get a lot of additional information. It was clear to me that the beetle was a stag beetle. I then looked up the gender on corresponding websites ...
Great pictures! To picture 84: how can you not like the absolute dream. 🍻
